Listening with Your Heart, with Rev. Sharon Seyfarth Garner
Our journey of Advent includes the opportunity to take your spiritual life deeper.  Each Sunday at 10 o'clock, you will have the opportunity to learn a different practice of spiritual direction. Transform your heart through prayer!

December 4 – Rev. Sharon Seyfarth Garner will guide us through Lectio Divina, a method of prayer that dates back to the early monastic tradition. Imagine a time when Bibles were rare and many people could not read.  Monks gathered in the chapel to hear a member of the community read scripture. In this exercise they were taught to listen with their hearts and reflect on what they heard God saying to them.
Sharon describes herself as a "Martha" in our fast-paced world, longing for more "Mary" moments to slow down, sit at the feet of Jesus and simply spend time with God on purpose. Her special areas of interest include lectio divina, centering prayers and the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius.  She is the author of Praying with Mandalas: A Colorful, Contemplative Practice and enjoys contemplative coloring as a spiritual practice offering focus, joy and depth to times of prayer.
