Families With Children

Children participate in Sunday School

Families of all sizes, shapes and hues are welcome and cherished at Brecksville United Methodist Church. The church provides an engaging and comprehensive Christian Education program for preschoolers through Senior High School. Our children and youth are encouraged to be a vibrant part of our congregation as ushers, greeters, musicians, acolytes and committee members. Our young people are also encouraged to engage in service projects throughout the year.

Visiting for the first time? Please inform a Greeter or Usher that you are new and that you’d like to be introduced to our Christian Education Director, Jenny Gee. You can also contact Jenny with questions at (440) 526-8938 or education@brecksvilleumc.com.

Childcare for Infants and Toddlers Loving and tender care for infants and toddlers is provided by trained volunteers and professionals in the Crib and Toddler Room throughout Sunday mornings until the end of worship.

Church School for ages 3 through high school. Rooted in the Scriptures and the Christian tradition, Brecksville UMC Sunday School program offers a range of options for learning, service, and friendship. We focus on the stories of the Bible and upon the development of Christian faith. Our caring and trained teachers, excellent curriculum, and a broad range of enrichment activities offer a variety of ways for children and youth to learn about the Christian faith and participate in the life of the community.

During First Worship Service, "Sprouts" a Children’s Church program, meets for children ages 3 and up. Begin your Sunday by worshipping together as a family. The children are released to attend Sprouts after the Children’s Moment. Alternatively, children and youth of all ages are welcome to worship with their families, if they choose.

During Second Worship Service, "Sprouts" will meet again following the Children’s Moment.

There is something for everyone

Godly Play
For Children in preschool and Kindergarten
Godly Play is a method of Christian Education which helps guide spiritual direction. Godly Play teaches children the art of using religious language - sacred story, parable, silence and liturgical action - helping them become more aware of God’s presence in their lives each day.

All Ages
Exploring the Lectionary Together
The Education Hour is taking on a whole new look this year! We are so excited to launch our new community study, diving deeper into the scriptures. Each Sunday, we will dig deeper into the scripture shared during the worship service, called the lectionary. What does this mean for you? It means congregational connections! Everyone will hear and experience the same Scripture stories during worship, during the Sunday School hour and at home. The entire congregation unites around the same Sunday readings. Whether you are in Kindergarten or 10th grade or a senior citizen, your Sunday School class will focus on the same lectionary scripture passage.
