A ministry of caring
A message from our Funeral Coordinator, Anthy Imes
Good Afternoon Funeral Team,
As many of you know, we will have a memorial service here on Saturday, October 12th, for our dear friend Bill Long, who passed away earlier this summer. Sue is doing a great job at putting together a beautiful day for her father, and you are all an important part of that if you’re able to join us as volunteers.
The family will greet guests during the visitation time from 10:00-11:30 in the Parlor and Sanctuary with a service to follow at 11:30. After the service (about 12:30), we’ll gather in Fellowship Hall for a luncheon.
As usual, I’m looking for some volunteers to help out during all parts of this service. If you haven’t served before, some things that volunteers do are greet people in the lobby & hand out funeral programs before the service, and while the service is going on, they help set up the food and beverages for the reception luncheon.
During the reception, volunteers make sure the beverages are stocked (as well as things like napkins, silverware, etc.), direct guests to restrooms when asked, help wash dishes, and clean up Fellowship Hall afterwards. This isn’t an exhaustive list–we all just pitch in where needed!
As usual, I will be here to help and lead the volunteer team on the 12th from start to finish.
If you can’t help in-person, we are also looking for people who would like to make or purchase bakery for the reception, or pick up tablecloths after the reception to wash at home and return to the church.
Please let me know if you’re available, whether for part of the time, all the time, or able to donate bakery or your washing services. I’m particularly looking for a solid dishwashing team as we’ll have a lot of washing to get through. Let’s surround Sue and her family with love and service!
Thank you so much for considering!
Sincerely,
Anthy Imes
