Ever wonder what to do with those little plastic bread tags? Our very own Lynn Hobzek learned about one way we can turn this trash into treasure and is starting a new collection drive: those tiny pieces of plastic can be transformed into life-changing mobility for children!
How It Works:
Instead of tossing your bread and vegetable bag fasteners into the trash, bring them to church! We’ll ship them to Danielle Cares for Chairs, a nonprofit that recycles the plastic tags at a specialized plant to earn funds to purchase wheelchairs for children and families in need.
How You Can Help:
It’s easy to participate, and it costs nothing but a few seconds of your time:
- Save your tags: Bread bags, produce bags, and even some frozen food bags use these plastic fasteners.
- Spread the word: Tell your friends, family, and neighbors to start a “tag jar” at home!
- Drop them off: Bring your collection to the designated red bin in the cubbie collection station in the first floor entry way.
Let’s work together to keep plastic out of the landfill and get wheelchairs to kids who need them. Every tag counts! Small acts like these – when multiplied – can help transform the world.
