Brecksville United Methodist Church, a religious community serving Northeast Ohio for over 200 years, is searching for a new team member to manage and monitor the financial health of the church. This position reports to the senior pastor and Leadership Board.

Job Overview

The Finance Manager – Part Time will be responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the church, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and managing financial risks.

THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION – Eight hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cash flow, forecasting, budgeting and reporting.
  • Prepare analyses of financial position utilizing forecasts to inform church decision-making
  • Perform general ledger reconciliation.
  • Oversee accounts payable.
  • Conduct account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Handle payroll functions.
  • Manage church accounting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Implement and maintain financial policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in financial concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting principles.
  • Ability to perform general ledger reconciliation.
  • Strong understanding of cash management techniques.
  • Familiarity with account analysis and reconciliation processes.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets.

Strongly Preferred Experience

  • Experience in a church or other non-profit accounting practices.
  • Experience in regulatory reporting.
  • Experience working with a board or similar governance model.
