For families struggling with food insecurity, a birthday cake can feel like an unattainable luxury. On Sunday, February 22 the Do Something Sunday kids are going to assemble Birthday Cake Kits to send to local food pantries.
Pastor Heidi and Wiggle Room Coordinator, Matt Botzman, both have birthdays that week, and we thought this would be a great way to celebrate.
You can help by donating supplies!
Each kit will contain:
- A Boxed Cake Mix (any flavor)
- A Can of Frosting
- A Can of Lemon-Lime soda (a replacement for eggs & oil)
- A 9×13 pan with lid (disposable aluminum or a pan found at a thrift store)
- Cake decorations (Candles, sprinklesā¦)
- Birthday Supplies: napkins, plates, streamers, balloons, a happy birthday banner, etc.
The kids will create a card to include with each kit, wishing the recipient a happy birthday and reminding them that they are loved. Our goal is to make 12 kits. Can we do it? Bring donations to the collection bin on the first floor before Thursday 2/19.
