For over 200 years, Brecksville United Methodist Church has been a community anchor in downtown, historic Brecksville. Caring for our church property, a gift from the saints who went before us in the faith, is something we take seriously. Maintaining safe and beautiful spaces is one way we live out the spiritual practice of hospitality.
If you have the gifts of working with your hands, nurturing gardens and home repairs, we would welcome you on the Property Care Team! If you have the talents for planning and organizing this type of work, join the team. If you would prefer to plug in for short term projects, consider one of these opportunities:
Church Grounds
- Fall and Spring yard clean up days. One Saturday in each of these seasons, we come together to rake leaves, pick up sticks, weed, tidy up the garden beds and such. Bring your garden gloves and tools if you have them!
- Adopt a flower bed. Our grounds are filled with beautiful beds, filled with native plants and other perenials. Gardeners are encouraged to “adopt” one for a growing season.
Church Maintenance
- Handy with a paint brush? Small, touch up painting projects abound.
- Like to clean windows? We could use a hand!
- Deep cleaning projects. Small teams for seasonal deep cleaning are welcome!
- Special projects. We’re often working on special projects, from installing acoustic panels to replacing chandelier light bulbs. What’s your ability?
Church Closers
- Brecksville UMC hosts meetings and events six days a week, often well into the evening. A team of volunteer church closers serve on a rotation to ensure that all of the lights are off and the building is locked up safely at the end of each day. Want to help?
