Seedlings and Sprouts

Faith formation for children during the 10:30 worship hour

Following the Children’s Moment each Sunday, children are welcome to join our wonderful teachers and youth helpers upstairs on the 4th floor. Our younger children meet in Room 402 (Seedlings), while our elementary-age children meet across the hall in Room 401 (Sprouts).

Seedlings | Room 402

Our preschoolers and Kindergarteners explore Bible stories through storytelling, simple crafts, movement, games, and hands-on activities. We generally spend two weeks with each story, giving children an opportunity to hear it, explore it, and experience it in different ways. We keep things relaxed and age-appropriate, with plenty of room for our young learners to wiggle, wonder, and participate at their own pace.

Sprouts | Room 401

Our 1st through 6th graders explore Bible stories and themes over the course of several weeks. Rather than simply hearing a story once, children experience it through a rotating mix of activities that might include cooking, science experiments, art, music, videos, games, and storytelling. Each activity offers a different way to engage with the same story, helping children make connections, ask questions, and discover new ways of understanding their faith.

No Strict Rules Regarding Age

We recognize that children grow and develop at different rates, and that a large age range can mean different energy levels, interests, and comfort levels in a group setting. Some of our younger elementary children may feel more at home in Seedlings for a while, and that’s perfectly fine! Children are welcome to stay in Seedlings as long as that feels like the right fit. Older children who enjoy spending time with our younger learners are also welcome to take on a helper role.

Our goal is to create safe and welcoming spaces where children can grow with God and with one another, build relationships, explore their faith, and have fun along the way.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated group of teachers and youth helpers sharing their time and gifts with our children. We are grateful for each one of them, and your children are in very good hands when they join us upstairs!

During the summer months, Sprouts takes on a slightly different feel! We bring children of mixed ages together for outdoor, nature-focused experiences. Through exploring, creating, observing, and playing, we discover the wonder of God’s creation and find opportunities to connect our faith with the world around us.
