About Dana Schwendeman
Dana was a fierce advocate for inclusion and for shining a light on the beauty of the diversity of God’s humanity. A creator of safe spaces, lover of poetry, writer of curriculum and uplifter of all, Dana was an integral part of our church. After singing in the choir and the worship band on Easter Sunday, Dana died just two days later, on April 22, 2025. She was 34 years old.
Having received her undergraduate degree from The University of Mount Union with a major in pre-ministry/writing and minors in religious studies and gender studies, Dana completed her graduate work at Methodist Theological School with a Master’s in Practical Theology focusing on Youth Ministry. She served as our youth director for nearly a decade, bringing wisdom beyond her years, and impacting the lives of countless young people.
